FP&A & Strategic Finance Professional

I turn financial records into decisions leadership can act on - not just reports they can read. With 4+ years across full-cycle accounting, variance analysis, P&L ownership, and multi-state tax compliance, plus an M.S. in Accounting & Financial Forensics, I own the close end-to-end, explain why the numbers moved, and connect each finding to the forecast. The result: GAAP-accurate books, a close cycle cut 40%, and a P&L that tells leadership what happened, why, and what to do next. Deep ERP (QuickBooks, D365, Sage Intacct, SAP) and Power BI expertise.

My Story

The Story Behind Every Number Is A Decision

Every number in a business has a story behind it - and the first question I ask is never "what is it?" It's "why is it, and what should we do about it?"

That mindset started simply. As a child, I once noticed the same 10-rupee banknote I had spent passing through a friend's pocket money days later - and I couldn't stop wondering where it had traveled and where it would go next. I learned that money moves through decisions, records, and transactions - and that behind every entry, reconciliation, and statement is a decision someone made.

That is what drew me to accounting and forensics: the numbers always have a reason. When they don't match, the reason is the insight.

So my work answers three questions in sequence: What happened? (accurate books), Why did it happen? (variance and forensics), and What should we do next? (forecast and decision).

"I don't just report what the numbers say - I find out why they moved and what to do about it."

That is the through-line of my career, from 45+ audit files a day at Deloitte to owning the close at AA Innovations: accuracy as the baseline, insight as the standard, and a decision as the deliverable.

Case Studies

Where The Industry Defaults, I Answer Differently

Each study applies the same test: what does the industry default to, what do I do instead, and what does that change for the business?

Audit Analysis

Audits That Prove Why Numbers Are Right

Industry Standard

Audits run as a checklist. Files are sampled, figures verified, boxes ticked. A discrepancy is flagged - and the team moves on without asking why it happened.

Charishma's Approach

45+ files a day at Deloitte, without letting volume flatten standards. I traced each discrepancy to its root cause and handed the client the insight to prevent it - an audit that strengthens the process, not just satisfies the standard.

Tax Analysis

Filing What The Law Demands, Zero-Error

Industry Standard

Returns processed at speed, leaning on software defaults and last year's workpapers. Research only happens when a return fails.

Charishma's Approach

Zero-error filing across every submission at H&R Block. I researched federal and state tax law proactively - asking "what changed this year?" - so I filed what the law demands, not what the software produced.

Full-Cycle Accounting

A Close That Balances By Design, Not Adjustment

Industry Standard

The monthly scramble: entries posted, reconciliations done, and off figures tweaked to balance rather than traced to their source.

Charishma's Approach

Every journal entry has a reason; a reconciliation that doesn't balance is a story unfinished. I trace discrepancies to their root - so the close is faster (10 to 6 days at AA Innovations) and statements are balanced by design.

Variance Analysis

Finding The Why, And Feeding The Forecast

Industry Standard

Actual vs. budget, percentages calculated, and a report that dies quietly until next month. Deltas reported without insight.

Charishma's Approach

Variance analysis as detective work. Structural, seasonal, or one-time? I trace the cause and wire it into the next forecast - turning a retrospective record into a forward-looking tool.

P&L Ownership

A P&L That Is Owned, Not Assembled

Industry Standard

Multiple hands touch the P&L; no single person feels responsible for the whole. It gets assembled rather than owned - technically correct, but nobody can explain the margin movement.

Charishma's Approach

I own the P&L as a whole business story - connecting margin to cash impact and forecast. Accounting rigor and an FP&A lens in one person, so leadership sees the complete financial picture.

Data Analytics

Analytics That Move Decisions, Not Decks

Industry Standard

Pretty dashboards, green numbers, and KPIs everyone looks at and nobody acts on. Analytics becomes screenshots in a deck.

Charishma's Approach

I started from a harder problem - predicting problems before they happened. My Power BI work used statistical modeling and ML to surface anomalies, delivering measurable downtime reduction. If it doesn't change a decision, it's not done.

Investment & Securities

Goals First, Products Second

Industry Standard

Discovery is shallow - a form, a risk score, a signature. The advisor matches the client to a product the firm wants to sell.

Charishma's Approach

At JP Morgan Chase I started from the client's life, not the product list. With a forensics background, I understand the numbers behind the conversation - and I'm pursuing SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 to ground every recommendation in regulation.
