Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is where I run variance analysis, trend identification, and management reporting on live, dimensioned data. Certified in 2026 — and used to turn general-ledger detail into decisions, not just downloads.
The Workflow — How I Approach It
Configure dimensions to match reporting
Set up dimensions so the system can slice the data the way the business actually reports.
Run analysis on live data
Variance and trend work from current balances — not exported snapshots that age fast.
Validate allocations before posting
Check allocation rules and journal entries against their support before they touch the books.
Reconcile across modules
Confirm the GL agrees with subledgers and modules before anything is reported.
My Operating View — The 2 Cents
A system is a promise that data is reliable — and only true if you validate it. My 2 cents: never trust a posted figure just because it came from the system. The analysis is only as good as the reconciliation that backs it.
What Worked & What Didn’t
What Worked
- Dimension-driven reporting that matched how management actually reviewed results.
- Live-data analysis that fed decisions in the same cycle.
What Didn’t
- Trusting posted data without validation — an allocation error read as a real variance.
- Exporting stale snapshots instead of working the live ledger.
