MS Dynamics 365
MS Dynamics 365 is where I turn ERP financial data into management reporting. I use it to extract, validate, and analyze the general ledger — so the reporting is grounded in clean data, not exported noise.
The Workflow — How I Approach It
1
Map the modules to the process
Understand how the financial modules connect to the business process before pulling a single report.
2
Extract and validate the GL
Pull the ledger data and validate it against reconciliations — bad extracts produce bad reports.
3
Build the management report
Turn clean data into variance and trend reporting management can act on.
My Operating View — The 2 Cents
An ERP is only as good as the data you put in and the validation you run on the way out. My 2 cents: validate the extract before you analyze it. A system-driven report is not automatically a correct one.
What Worked & What Didn’t
What Worked
- Validated extracts that produced reporting the team trusted and acted on.
What Didn’t
- Analyzing unvalidated extracts — the report inherited the ledger’s errors.
